In 1974, when Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj’s spiritual ministry came to an end,
the task of carrying on his mission was passed to Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj.
He was head of Science of Spirituality/Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission for fifteen years,
from 1974 to 1989, and was president of the World Fellowships of Religions and the
World Unity of Man Society. In 1983, the Colombian Parliament honoured him with
its Medal of Congress.
He maintained we are spirit and function in the world through a mind and body. To
realize our full potential, we need to develop spiritually without neglecting our
physical health or intellectual growth.
Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj’s life was a testimony of his message of positive
mysticism, pursuing spiritual development while living in the mainstream. Alongside
his spiritual practices, as a young man he took an active part in athletics, college
debates, and literary activities. Having entered government service in 1942, he
retired as deputy secretary of the government of India after thirty-seven years
of distinguished service.
